Lawrence Hill

Lawrence has extensive experience building large custom homes, well-designed affordable and not-for-profit homes, commercial and multi-family projects. Starting with a civil engineering degree from the UofC, Lawrence developed expertise in project management, financial analysis, marketing, energy efficient construction, structure and floor plan design.

Lawrence started building his first infill and suburban projects with Hillcroft Homes in 1979. Since then he built homes in Edmonton and later in Canmore where he has lived since 1998. In Canmore, Hillcroft Developments acquires the land and prepares it for construction with permits and approvals. NuAlpine Homes is responsible for managing the construction schedule, quality assurance and warranty of the projects. Both companies are owned by Lawrence and Joey. Of the many non-profit organizations for which Lawrence has volunteered, 5 years with the Canmore Community Housing Corporation, including 3 years as Chairman, were possibly the most satisfying. Lawrence also consulted with Habitat for Humanity Southern Alberta for several years.

Lawrence’s passion is visualizing spaces in three dimensions to create design concepts that are inspired by how today’s families work, live and play. He then incorporates unique trademark features into every home along with lots of natural wood and high quality craftsmanship.

While serving as President, UBG Alpine Homes won the prestigious Alberta Home Builder of the Year award in 2007. During Lawrence’s 9 years with UBG Alpine Homes, the company was also recognized with the following:

  • Mayor’s Design Award

  • Alberta Home Builders’ Safety Award

  • Several Calgary Home Builders’ SAM Awards

  • The Alberta New Home Warranty Program Customer Satisfaction Award.
