Our Building Philosophy

About Us Our Philosophy Warranty

Why do we build homes?

We relish the challenge of designing and building the best homes possible. We start with the lot: understanding the potential with the size, slope, orientation to the sun and existing foliage.  Then we put ourselves in the shoes of those families who might be interested in the home: what happens when they come in from driving or walking, how and where do they like to have meals with family, entertain friends, enjoy the outdoors or cherish quiet time.  Will they likely be full or part-time residents in Canmore.

After considering all of these factors, we draw upon our team’s collective experience of over 80 years and begin the careful design process of creating a unique plan that endeavours to meet or surpass all of these requirements.  Concepts are reviewed with our larger team of designers, marketing consultants, trades and suppliers to incorporate the latest in conservation measures and product ideas.  Prior to finalizing the plans and specifications, we’re constantly seeking improvements in order to build the most cost-effective, exceptional home possible for a discriminating buyer.

Why specialize in Canmore?

We love living in Canmore!  Here we have so many hiking, biking and cross country trails by the Bow River, through pristine forests and up the surrounding mountains.  Canmore has an indoor swimming pool, Quarry Lake, climbing walls, skating rinks and off-leash dog parks.  We get to work, where we love to play!

What distinguishes a NuAlpine home from the rest?

Views – with more than five mountain ranges surrounding Canmore, we believe it’s vitally important to design spaces and places in our homes with high window walls, wide patio doors and large decks to view the panoramic majesty of the Canadian Rockies.

The insights promoted by Sarah Suzanka, author of Not So Big House, resonate strongly with us: quality over quantity, maximizing the use of natural light, modulating high ceilings with lower areas, emphasizing comfort, beauty and a high level of detail.  Barry Berkus, one of America’s Top 50, architects personally demonstrated to us how to show off a home’s best view from the moment one steps through the front door.

Our homes feature rich woodgrains, stone, quartz and ceramics.

Functionality, practicality, and flexibility are hallmarks of our floor plans.

We enjoy getting to know our homebuyers – many of whom are now friends and neighbours.

We decorate with fabric, metal, glass, leather, colour and a touch of whimsy.

We save as many trees and shrubs as we can, then plant many more.

We like little surprises, big wows and exceeding expectations.

We enjoy outdoor living – there are at least two decks and patios on many of our homes.

We like balance …asymmetrically.

We listen.
